Visit of Students to Project Facilities

João Dinis, CISE MSc Student and member of ELECTRUBI (students association and representative body of the students enrolled in Electrical Engineering at UBI), organized, on November 21, 2019, a visit to Guarda International Research Station on Renewable Energies (CISE | GIRS-RES). The event counted with the participation of 24 students, who were presented with a contextualization of Project Ef&RelDC@HomO – Efficient and Reliable DC Electricity Distribution at Home and Offices, followed by a brief explanation of the project activities developed there. Finally, the group visited the indoor and outdoor installations of CISE | GIRS-RES.

IECON 2019 Special Session

CISE – Electromechatronic Systems Research Centre is involved in the organization of a Special Session on “Efficient and Reliable LED Lighting Systems”, taking place during the upcoming IECON'2019, in Lisbon, Portugal, on October 14-17, 2019. This Special Session aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners from the broad field of LED lighting, to present and discuss recent trends on this field.
Prospective authors are kindly invited to submit their contributions to this Special Session. The deadline for submission of full papers is May 24, 2019. Please refer to the Call for Papers available here for further details about the topics of interest of this Special Session.

HLC on DC Electricity Distribution

In the framework of Project TR@NSENER - European Cooperation Network on Energy Transition in Electricity, and Project Ef&RelDC@HomO – Efficient and Reliable DC Electricity Distribution at Home and Offices, CISE organised a High Level Conference entitled “DC Electricity Distribution”, on the 07th of May 2019, at Guarda, Portugal.
The two keynote speakers - Mario Dionisio, Programme Officer from the European Commission (DG Energy) and Bernd Wunder, Group Manager “DC Micro Grids” from Fraunhofer IISB - provided an overview on the challenges and opportunities underlying the development of DC electricity distribution systems within the context of homes and offices. The High Level Conference was followed by a visit to Guarda International Research Station on Renewable Energies (CISE | GIRS-RES).
The High Level Conference counted with the participation of nearly one hundred attendees, representing institutions from academia, energy agencies, municipalities, and other entities.

IET Book Publication

The book "Diagnosis and Fault Tolerance of Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and Drives" was released by IET - The Institution of Engineering and Technology. The scope of the book encompasses the issues related to fault analysis, fault detection and isolation, diagnostics, prognostics, condition monitoring, post-fault reconfiguration, remedial operation, robust control, and fault tolerance of electromechatronic systems. Most book chapters’ contributors are Integrated Researchers of CISE. The book is edited by Prof. Antonio J. Marques Cardoso, Director of CISE.
